Due to the strong wind from Tropical Storm COLIN, while staying at the Mooring Field (Mooring Fee: US$21.30/Day) in Saint Augustine City Marina, we stopped making water because the source of the sea water looked stirred. It might be from the strong wind but we didn’t want to have our water maker filters plugged.
Then, tropical storm COLIN passed above us as it was forecasted; the storm brought us heavy rain. Our boat got a rain shower. For the first time on the boat, we also decided to collect the rain water. Opening the water tank caps on the deck, we made a dam by placing a towel downstream next to the caps. When I woke up in the morning, I wanted to taste the rain water which was filtered twice through our system. It was as good as my favorite bottled water treat ‘Dasani’ or ‘Aguafina’. After drinking brewed coffee made from rain water and then washing my face with soft rain water, I realized that we have long distance to go to get out of the hurricane zone.
