After anchoring near the Charleston City Marina, not minding the heat and humidity, we wandered in downtown Charleston, the “Holy City”. There are many places and things to see in Charleston: over 300 churches of various denominations and historic houses. Some say Charleston is the cultural capital of the South. It must be. There were lots of tourists in town. Many historic houses are well preserved, rejuvenated, and protected. Looking at the old houses, I often imagined the horse carriages 200-300 years ago.
