Fakarava Atoll for My Relaxation in Tuamotu, French Polynesia

Sharks along the shore by Town Anchorage, Fakarava Atoll, Tuamotu Archipelago, French Polynesia

(June 24 to July 10, 2023) Fakarava Atoll! What a funny name! It sounds like the “F-Word” in a cute way to me.

Atoll is a coral island, with a ring of coral surrounding and a blue sapphire lake in the center. Boats inside the Atoll are protected by Motu (“the Tahitian word for a small islet on the coral reef.”), but there’s no protection against Cyclones, though.

Atolls are just above sea level, so they are not very visible from a distance.

Boat Maintenance Time in La Cruz Marina Shipyard in Mexico

Possible heavy rain this afternoon and tonight, June 19th, 2021. Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

“Sailing around the World” is still our dream. I have been sailing for last 7 years. However, just looking at the circumnavigation route on the globe, we, so far, sailed from Florida to Pacific side Mexico. We enjoyed sailing the Caribbean and two Atlantic Ocean crossing there and back, but this is not a part of our original route. Sailing in the Canaries, Charming Weather Year Around

Some say the Canary Islands offer an Eternal Spring Climate year around. We have been enjoying the weather in the Canaries very much. It is about 21 Celsius (About 70 Fahrenheit) with sunny days and a beautiful blue sky. If living here, one would hardly need an A/C or a heater.

It doesn’t seem to rain much in the Canaries. The islands we have visited so far (Eastern Side Islands: La Graciosa, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, and Tenerife Island), they look rocky or sandy. Many hotels and restaurants are all over on the islands. Development keeps going making more hotels and vacation properties.

Kite-boarding at Eastern Lemmon Cays, San Blas/Panama

My phone alarm, the sound of a rooster crowing goes off at 8:25am daily! It is about time to listen to the Panama Connection Net (Frequency 8107 USB).

At 8:30am every day, the cruisers in San Blas announce the weather and discuss various matters. The topics vary. One day, someone was looking for a 22mm socket which we loaned him. Today, John asked a question wanting to know where we could buy an ‘Internet Prepaid Refill Card’. A cruiser responded that he has extras we can get from him. We decided to move our boat to a new anchorage where he is anchored.
