Panama is located in the Northern Hemisphere. Strangely, Panamanians say that their winter starts in April and ends in November. At first, talking to local people, I thought we had a communication problem between English and Spanish. Later, I found out Panamanians get their flu vaccines (regular flu shots) in April for their Winter (April to November). There are two seasons in Panama: Summer (=Dry Season, from December to March) and Winter (=Wet Season). Normally in the Northern hemisphere, we say winter starts in November, and ends in April, but when in Rome, do as the Romans do……
I don’t want to dwell on the losses caused by this Coronavirus Pandemic. We are still under a 24 hour curfew in Panama. The curfew has been going on for more than a month. How long can a government give money to people? Where is that money coming from? I am hoping this lockdown ends soon. We all need to work to buy food or to produce food. Businesses need to be running to this economy going around. I am thankful to those front line workers during this pandemic: Grocery Workers, Garbage Collectors, Medical Staff, and many other unknown heroes I cannot think of. Can all of us be front line workers with caution?
