We cleared Customs, Immigration, and Biosecurity a week ago. Officers confiscated a few onions, cut lemons, and garlic I’d forgotten, disposing of them in the biosecurity bin. They told me I could buy better, organic options at the local fresh market.
After clearance, we moved to a mooring in Yachting World Marina (https://yachtingworld-vanuatu.com/), which offers garbage disposal, showers, and easy dinghy dock access. John immediately began researching new autopilots and decided on two Raymarine sets. He initially wanted to order from New Zealand for simpler shipping, but a three-week wait led him to order from the States instead. Bunny will stay until the new autopilot is installed.
Vanuatu’s official languages are Bislama, English, and French, so people must be trilingual. So far, we’ve communicated in English without issue. The country was jointly managed by the British and French for 74 years before gaining independence in 1980, forming the Republic of Vanuatu. My experience with the Ni-Vanuatu (people of Vanuatu) has been positive; they seem very kind and welcoming. Welcome to Vanuatu!
