Las Cruces (about 45 miles from El Paso, Texas), New Mexico, USA

(March 30 to April 6, 2019) A week stay in Las Cruces, New Mexico for me was more than enough. I had to wait until April 7th to check into the campground in Joshua Tree National Park. It looks like Las Cruces is a big retiree’s town. The trails in this area were easy or moderate. I went to a Local Tai Chi class and spoke to a lady in the class. After driving from Florida to El Paso in Texas, I gained some confidence in myself, my car and my plan. Prior to this I wasn’t sure so I didn’t book any campgrounds in the national parks. While staying for a week in an extended stay hotel in El Paso I spent lots of time online booking as well as hiking and sightseeing in the El Paso area. The pictures below were taken by my phone.

At Darryl’s Cattle Ranch, Oxford, Florida, USA

I am sure someday I will lose my interest in traveling. For now, I want to travel as much as I can. I have a lot of time, a little savings, no obligations, and a physical and mental capable body. My goal is to do road/car camping trip for the next six months. My car (aka “Tank”, a 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis) carries my food, clothes, tent/sleeping bag, and even some tools. The huge back seat is enough for me to sleep comfortably when necessary. I am self-contained. Car-camping trip is easier than sailing as it is on land not on the ocean.
