We left Whangarei Town and arrived at Marsden Cove Marina yesterday for our customs clearance. This morning, we’re scheduled to meet with the Customs Officer. Once cleared, we have four hours to depart New Zealand and are not allowed to stop anywhere else within the country.
Two days ago, we took our cats to a Biosecurity-approved veterinarian in Whangarei to begin the pet export process to Australia. Both were examined and treated for external and internal parasites. The veterinarian emailed both Happy and Swat’s health certificates to Australia Biosecurity, the Port of Bundaberg, and Customs.
Due to John’s wrist injury, we ended up staying in New Zealand for a year. Our original plan was to stay here for six months. It looks like our time in Australia will be shortened.
Cyclone season began here this month. We’ll be sailing over 1,400 nautical miles to Bundaberg, Australia. We’re not fond of long-distance sailing, and I estimate it will take us about two weeks at sea. I’m hoping for smooth sailing with no major boat issues and good weather throughout the journey.
P.S.: Yesterday, we changed our Starlink service from the Residential Plan to the In-Motion Ocean Use Plan. We’re hoping for a reliable connection at sea.
